As promised!!

I took a day longer, but here I am. And I’m planning to discuss THREE movies I saw.

The first one is Paranormal Activity 3. SCARY!! There’s something about watching stuff happening to/because of children, that just gives me the creeps… this is a prequel to Paranormal Activity, and it deals with how Katie and her sister first started to be haunted. Funnily enough, it was an “imaginary friend”. There are quite a few jump scenes in this movie, and some pretty clever moments. There is a camera mounted on the motor of a fan; genius. It helps build some of the best moments in the movie. There’s good acting, it’s scary… I highly recommend it!! I won’t say anything else because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it…

The second is Grave Encounters. This movie is supposed to be real footage (Blair Witch, anyone?) taken from a TV program dedicated to paranormal phenomena called Grave Encounters. The crew goes to an abandoned mental hospital, and they plan to stay the night… will they survive it? Mwahahahaha…

I felt the movie was kind of slow at first. There are some good scenes, some jump scenes and some good effects, but the CGI kind of jumps at you at times. Plus, if you’ve seen the trailer, you’ve seen one of the spookiest scenes. This movie had potential, and while it’s scary, it could have been heart-stopping, really. Still, if you’re a fan of this kind of movies, you’ll enjoy it.

The third one is called Spiderhole, from 2010. I suppose it’s kind of independent, although I can’t be sure. It’s about four friends who are looking for a place to live, and they find this abandoned house which looks perfect. They enter, and they take a tour. The house is huge, and they find some really suspicious stuff. But by the time they want to teave, it’s too late…

This movie looked very good at first, but then it turns kind of confusing. There could have been better jump and kill scenes… I’m not a great fan of slasher and bloody movies, but there are times when you just have to see a little gore to have the movie make sense. They didn’t do that here. There’s this killer, and they try to explain what’s up with him, but they fail miserably. As a result, you get confused. In horror movies, there can be two things happening: you just don’t know why someone kills, which is fine, or they give you a good back story, which is also fine. But when they “kind of” explain, but not well, it’s annoying. This is a movie that looks very promising, but then you feel a bit cheated. Still, I suppose it’s worth a watch if and only if you don’t spend money on it…

That’s it for now. I hope to come back soon with some pics of some knitted stuff… in the meantime, take care!!
